Well this years attendance was lower as expected with the way the economy has been.
We hit 48 registered, about 40 cars made it to the Vegas.  We had 60 at WCG 4.
Nonetheless, the fun and camaraderie was still there and plenty of it.  We
were especially happy to see some new faces.  Always a good sign!
We even had an Impala from Indipala SS show up.  Wow! Eric, you were
definitely a long way from home!

The Friday CruiSSe night kicked it off.  The Smokin' Hot DJ kept the mood going with
a good music mix. The first surprise of the night was the donation of the
CompCam Rocker/Spring/Push Rod Kit by Fairway Chevrolet. Many props to Sam Smith
and the rest of the crew at the service and parts department over there for hosting
and feeding us.  The second surprise of the night was the registration
of Voss' 96 Impala, known to many simply as The Pig.  We were very pleased
to hear it would make an appearance at WCG.  We also got our first glimpse of
Bob and Ida's rebuilt 95 Impala supercharged 383 "dragster".   Nice car Bob!
Wait!  That's Ida driving it!!

The SShow and SShine at Boulder City was very relaxing.  This year the
sun hung around a bit much and heated us up a little more than usual for
this time of year.  It must have been due to the re-uniting of the
twins . . . Jim Eatherton and Bob McLaren.  Did you notice they swapped
shirts from the night before!  The gourmet turkey burgers and beans were
a surprise.  I think it caught many off guard as they were not ready for
these great tasting burgers.  Hats off to Shurnice for preparing her secret
gourmet turkey burgers for us.  We finally got to see The Pig.  Actually,
I think it started with a roar and then a brief race to the park entrance.
Very impressive.  Bob and Ida's dragster roared on over and they
both sat together in the grass. Definitely a car enthusiast dream scene to see
those two deer grazing side by side.  We thank both owners for bringing
them out and wowing the crowds with their supercharged muscle cars.
They were both very LOUD!

Peer judging occurred as it has in the past.  We must acknowledge the leading
vote getter for Best of Show and Best Engine actually went to The Pig.  However,
since the supercars both graciously bowed out of the judging, their votes were excluded.
(Note: Bob and Ida were given a plaque for 95 Modified because they were the only
other car to receive votes beside Les, even though they were not to be judged.  Their
car obviously would have won more awards had they particpated in the judging.)
Maybe next year we need to have a SSuperCar Class for them to participate in.
Do you think your supercar will be done by then Phil?
